Can the nutmeg be adapted to take on a small gas or electric motor. I would like to use it for fishing on a small lake too crowded for sailing and to big for rowing. However I would like to keep the option of sailing there for bigger waters .Thanks Richard

Hi richd,

Well.... No and maybe... The intent of this inexpensive vessel was for sailing first and rowing second. The transom and bottom shape, as designed, is not set up for an outboard either gas or electric. However, one could beef up the transom by doubling it, add stronger transom quarter knees to the gunnels and a transom knee to the bottom for use with a small gas outboard 2 hp. -- or -- an electric outboard with less than 24 lbs. thrust. These motors are a big expense for not much push as the bottom shape, at anything above idling along, will just push the bow in the air...

We are seeking an outbaord skiff design to offer on the SBF store page. We'll see over time how this project goes...
