Hi, I'm Steve. I've been lurking around the forums for a few months now, but this is my first post.
My question is, Just how big is a "small boat"? I'm having a hard time visualising size from specs and line drawings.
My primary interest is in sailing. Fishing is also likely to ba a frequent use of any boat I may own. Camp cruising also holds some apeal, although this would not be a driving factor in choosing a design.
The most likely crew would be myself and my two boys, but I would surely catch a lot of heck if I were to buy or build a boat that couldn't hold the whole family (2 adults and 3 kids) for day sailing.
One design that has cought my attention is the Argie 15 from Dudley Dix. http://www.dixdesign.com/argie15.htm Does anyone have experience with this design? Big enough? or can I get by with something smaller?
Have you ordered the plans for the Argie 15? Have you started construction of this design? This boat should do the trick for the kind of sailing you are planning, and should easily accomodate you and your family.
