Here is the sailing skiff “Lire” a close copy to the Auckland New Zealand designer Gifford Jackson’s “Marisol” as shown in WoodenBoat magazine #12 1976. She was built by Herrick “Swede” Heitman at his boat shop in Glengary Bay, Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho in the late 70’s.

“Lire’s ” particulars: LOA: 12’ 6”, Beam: 4’ 7 1 / 2”, Draft: with adjustable dagger board up 9”, and 2’ 4” with the board down. Trailer Weight: 175 – 200 lbs., Sail Area: 70 sq. ft. The construction is lap plywood over sawn frames. The sail was custom made at Shauttauer Sails in Seattle

A story on the build out of “Lire” and her sailing abilities can be found on the Small Boat Forum’s Adventures page and plans can be obtained from the WoodenBoat Store.

The boat was sold in the late 80’s in Northern Idaho… Does anybody know her whereabouts now?
