Hi

Does anyone know a 21/22 feet sailboat with centerboard called Audacity designed by Laurent Giles. I would like to see some pictures or drawings of it and hear from someone who has tried to sail it.

Regards Jens Christian Mohr, Copenhagen

Hello Jens,

Here is Laurent Giles’ sloop rigged Audacity designed and built for the News Chronicle in 1959. She is the end result of a number of small cruising sailboat designs by Giles beginning in 1939 including John Guzzwell’s Trekka in which he circumnavigated the globe.

Audacity Design # 376 Particulars: LOA 21 ft. 5 in. (6.54m),  LWL 18 ft 6 in. (5.64m),  Beam 7 ft. 3 in. (2.21m),  Draft Board Up 1 ft. 7 in., Displacement 1.6 ton (1.63 tonnes),  Sail Area 203 sq. ft. (18.88m2).
