noticed a sticker near plate on stern/starboard side and it also says New Jersey with what appears to be the hull# on it but the boat was manufactured in Illionois. perhaps the original plate was removed and then the boat was given a new hull# from the Div of Motor Vehicles, right?

I have a 14' 1987 smokercraft , it takes up to 15 hp motor and will hold 940 pounds. the plate on mine was on the wood on the transom inside the boat. From what I see in your pics the top of the seats have less brackets than mine. all my seats have two brackets on each side ,other than that it looks identical.

boat specs- The boats, and calibration of the remote engine tachometers. The height of the sea significantly curtailed the speed capabilities of the PCF. Boat specs is two magnesium anodes were located on the stern, below the water line, and provided the means for reducing underwater electrolytic corrosion.

so the sticker that i originally noticed on stern/starboard side is the replacement hull id# from the motor vehicle commission of new jersey, though they kept denying me from registering it. when i called the headquarters in trenton they stated that the office near me was obligated to register the boat to me, it only took 5 trips and some tense arguing (they don't know what they are doing) - they wasted two summers of no boating/fishing for me. i also found out more specs such as max load is 700lbs, and max hp is 10hp. two years wasted and now i'm antsy for 2009!
