Hi everyone.
We have recently taken possession of an oldie but goodie runabout.
It's a [Canadian?] Sangstercraft glass 13+ footer with the hull number 5981 stamped on a brass plate on the transom. With its embossed logo and hefty appearance it looks like a classic from the 60's!
Anyone with info (date of build, where built, etc.) on this great little boat would be appreciated.

| Hello! I also have a weeee little Sangstercraft! It's a 14' and is a 1960. It is made in Vancouver, as were all Sangstercrafts. It has a 35hp Merc 350 on the back. I'm just gettin it runnin, and can't wait to get it on the water! Do you have any pix of yours? I'll post one of mine! I believe that the first 2 digits of the vin # is the year, making yours a '59. Oh, terrific! I didn't expect any more replies to my post as it has been almost a year since leaving the message. But, yes, still got it - - tarped up - - and it's good to thank you for the info. I kinda thought it was pretty ancient lol.
Give me a shout at: jacksimpson@telus.net then we can gab a little about our boats n' stuff. I'll rummage around for some pics of the little gem

I just ordered my Owners manual, Service manual, and PArts description from http://www.oldmercs.com Bob Grubb down there in PA has a whole bunch of old merc stuff, so I'm gonna be gettin the thing running, real soon! It's a pretty 'goofy' little video and it was originally set up last year to help advertise the package.
Some background: the Sangster was a recent gift from my elderly father inlaw and it was in dire need of some repairs and TLC (been used mainly on small inland lakes) . After restoring it to a closer shadow of its former self we re-floated and got some fun out of the little guy during last season. But having had other much larger craft over the years, we found this little fella rather risky for most of our surrounding mass of salt water. So in the end we figured it should be sold to someone who would enjoy it more, hense the video push.
Even with the surprising interest, in the end we decided to hang on to it for another season (this year) and see what happens. We use a '55 Chev p/up for towing and so that in itself has become an fun adventure. Yeah, both vehicles seem to get along well together 
Much obliged to Stovebolt for passing along his pix as well as that little tidbit of info on our 'little buddy's' history. Didn't realize its build date went back that far - - 1959!!
It will be nifty to find even more stuff about it and the company who made it.

Holy CRAP!!! That makes 2 of us!!! Well, you 1970 blows my theory that they were only around for a few years! I'm glad your here! Are you up by the Shuswap Lake? Jack, Maybe you n the family should come over and head up to Inetguys place for some campin n boatin!! LOL We could have a little Sangstercraft Love-in!  How di you come across your boat? And what do you know about it? The 3 of us are the only ones I've seen!
Oh, and Jack? Thats a great little vid!!

| Yes I am right in Salmon Arm which is on Shuswap Lake. I found it 2 weekends ago when I was driving out to borrow a friends aluminum to go fishing. Had it out last weekend and it runs great. It came with the trailer, downriggers, fish finder, 2 engine manuals, 1 35 Hp manual start ( on the boat ) and another 35 Hp Electric Start which he was going to use the leg off the manual one to put on the electric start one ( he broke the leg ).. All for only $900 !! He was a really nice old guy and was glad to see it was going to someone who appreciated the "retro-ness" of it and was going to take care of it.

| hey guys, still there? i have a sangstercraft from vancouver. it must be really old, the top curves in at the top by the transom. the brass plate said 60-234
|

| Hi all! It's good to see there are more Sangstercraft owners around. I got a 15'6'' Sangstercraft a couple years ago, but I haven't been able to find any info about it. The hull shape of mine looks like the 1970 model pics posted, but the windshield is two flat glass panels divided in the centre. I haven't been able to figure out what year my boat is so if there is anyone with a Sanstercraft that looks similar to mine, could you please let me know what year it is?

| The boat is beong stored in Duncan right now. I am going up island later this week so I will check the VIN. I'll post the number when I get back in a few days.

| Hi all! I went up island yesterday to check the VIN # on my boat. The only numbers I could find were on a steel plate that is riveted to the inside of the transom. The only numbers were: DOT214632 Model #1560 Max HP 75. I could not find any serial number on the boat. Where are the numbers usually located?

Hi there,Stovebolt,
My name is Steen Jensen, I have just bought a Sangstercraft very similar to yours,
The windshield is not as tall and it is a bit bigger it measures approx 15 ft. I just brought it home yesterday, it needs mostly cosmetic work it came with a 1964 65hp Merc and a trailer, I got it all for $300.00.
Do you have any idea what year this may be?
The only #'s I can read on the plate are DOT 113456 75 1460 m-14.
All the rest I cannot read because the motor is in the way and I cannot get the right angle to read them, it is too cold outside right now to spend any time out there, I live in Kelowna. The temp right now is 4, shortly I will start to get this together and hopefully on the water.
Any info or help is greatly appreciated.

I just got an old Sangstercraft boat . The hull sweeps to the stern so must be a speed model as opposed to the others I see here. Does anyone have an idea of what the vintage might be as the plate at the stern in missing? The pics are too large to post.
