Here's a young fellow zooming his water world in a nifty outboard pram!

DN Goodchild has a few prams of all types with plan packets on his site. The outboard Sea Glider by Joseph Adams #5236 and Weston Farmers Scram Pram # 5370 are of note.

Boatbuilder Magazine publishes "The Complete Guide to Boat Kits & Plans". The 16th Edition shows a number of prams on pages 33 to 36, including your already built Chesapeake Light Craft Eastport. Eric Sponberg's Hafling and Shell Boats Sea Shell designs look interesting.

We have always liked L. Francis Herreshoff's 11' 6"pram for the vessel Marco Polo with it's adjustable center seat, 4 rowlock positions, leeboard and lug sail rig found on page 234 of his book "Sensible Cruising Designs".

Dutch, could you post a picture of one of your Eastport projects?

Thanks,  Thom V

I am a UK fan of your website.

Saw the correspondence re Eastport Prams and thought you might be interested in one built on this side of the Atlantic.

A company called Fyne Boats sell the CLC kits and plans here in the UK.

My kit was excellent and made construction easy(ish) for a first time boat builder.

Photo shows finished boat with custom made tan lugsail.

Hi!
This is Gerardo from Mallorca, Spain.
I find many years ago a pram I was not able to identify untill I saw the plans you send to this forum.
Now I'm sure she is an Herreshoff' Marco Polo tender. All details match the plans. I can't give any date but seems to be an old copy (or original) made out of mahogany around 1950.
I tryed hard to find more info to start rebuilding her due to her poor conditions. I've written to Mystic Seaport, they need some weeks to send me something else.
I also tryed to find a copy of Sensible Cruising Designs, but there are no copies available.
Well as you know everything can help me to make her sail again. May be a scanned file about this tender from the book you have? I'll agree any advise.
Excuse my poor English!
Thank you very much

Here is a link to a PDF file with the article on Marco Polo Pram from the book "Sensible Cruising Designs' by L. Francis Herrshoff: Tender for the Marco Polo. You will need to adjust the sizing etc. to pick up details...

I have a copy of L.F. Herreshoff's book.  I'm looking to build the 'Marco Polo' tender in 2/3 scale (7' 8") to fit on my 30' H. Herreshoff designed sailboat.  Has anyone drawn up plans for this?  Considering either cedar strip or S&G oakume.
