| Winslow Homer (1836 -1910) certainly had a wonderful way of capturing the proper shape of small boats on water. Below is the watercolor “The Blue Boat” done in 1892 of a classic north American canoe. Note the shading to bring out the fullness of the canoe side and the way the sheer, bow and stern shape are properly rendered.
