I Wish
The grate of a boat on a gravel bar,
the call of a distant loon,
coffee and bacon and cedar smoke,
and geese against the moon.
An osprey's plunge in a mountian lake
and his labored rise with a fish;
I dream of the world my grandsons face,
and I wish, and wish, and wish.
